DST allocates ₹1 lakh crore RDI fund to boost deep-tech startups in India

DST has unveiled a ₹1 lakh crore RDI fund to support Indian deep-tech startups in areas like 6G, drones and robotics, boosting early-stage investment.
The Department of Science & Technology (DST) launched a new RDI (Research, Development & Innovation) fund worth ₹1 lakh crore aiming to raise early-stage investment in Indian deep-tech startups, which currently account for just about 10 % of total funding. The fund will back areas such as 6G, robotics, drones and advanced communication systems.
The DST said the fund will go live within two months, aligning with India’s push toward cutting-edge infrastructure and innovation ecosystems. Private‐capital interest is expected to ramp up as higher-risk, longer-payoff ventures gain public backing.
