India has ordered all smartphone manufacturers to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi app on new devices to curb fraud and improve telecom security.
The Department of Telecommunications has directed all smartphone makers, including Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus, to pre-install the Sanchar Saathi safety app on every new device sold in India. The directive applies to all models launching after December 2025 and aims to curb device fraud, cloned IMEIs and identity misuse.
