Cloudflare Faces Major Service Outage After Traffic Spike
Cloudflare’s outage, caused by an unusual traffic spike, disrupted several major platforms, including X and ChatGPT, impacting internet stability globally.
On November 18, 2025, Cloudflare experienced a severe outage starting at approximately 12:00 UTC, caused by an unusual traffic spike. This issue disrupted several platforms relying on Cloudflare’s CDN, DNS, and DDoS protection, leading to widespread errors such as HTTP 500. Major services like X, ChatGPT, Spotify, Perplexity, Uber, Canva, and Gemini were affected, with many users unable to access them. Cloudflare quickly acknowledged the issue, disabling some access points like WARP in London and working to restore services.
The incident, which peaked at over 11,000 reports on Downdetector, reaffirmed Cloudflare’s crucial role in global internet infrastructure.
