NITI Aayog data shows services industry added 40 million jobs over six years

A government-backed NITI Aayog report revealed that India’s services economy created over 40 million new jobs between 2018 and 2024. The expansion was led by IT, logistics, healthcare, tourism, and finance, reflecting the country’s structural transition toward knowledge and digital sectors. Economists highlighted that while employment generation was robust, wage parity and skilling remain persistent challenges. The report also urged greater collaboration between the private sector and education institutions to sustain productivity and meet India’s $5 trillion economic goal by 2027.
