Jeff Bezos Returns as Co-CEO of $6.2 Billion AI Startup in Major Comeback

Jeff Bezos is taking an operational role as co-CEO of Project Prometheus, a new artificial-intelligence firm backed by $6.2 billion in early-stage funding. The startup focuses on “AI for the physical economy”  including engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive systems and has already hired about 100 researchers from labs such as OpenAI and DeepMind. Bezos’s new role marks his first major executive comeback since stepping down as Amazon’s CEO in 2021, signalling a high-stakes move into frontier AI.
