AGI Predictions: Majority of Experts See Inevitable Emergence

Analysis of 8,590 predictions from AI researchers and entrepreneurs indicates that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is seen as inevitable. Most experts expect AGI to emerge around 2040–2060, with entrepreneurs often forecasting earlier timelines near 2030. While narrow AI already surpasses humans in specific tasks, a generally intelligent machine has yet to exist. Experts debate whether scaling current models or inventing new architectures will be required to reach AGI.
