Amazon has confirmed that Rohit Prasad, the executive overseeing its artificial general intelligence (AGI) unit, will leave at the end of this year. Peter DeSantis, a 27 year veteran of the company, has been appointed to lead a reorganized AGI division, which will also include teams focused on custom silicon development and quantum computing. CEO Andy Jassy emphasized that this restructuring comes as Amazon believes it has reached a crucial point in AI development. DeSantis, currently a senior vice president in Amazon's cloud unit , has been with the company since 1998.
